Year-Round Programs
Community Building Events
People Like Us provides year-round events for 2SLGBTQIA+ community members and allies to connect and build community. Some events in the past have included: An annual Pride Celebration, Stonewall Pride Walk, Juneteenth Celebration, Gay Apparel Christmas Eve party, Halloween party, and movie nights. Please contact us for information on upcoming events or if you are interested in hosting or organizing a social event.
Community Member Support Program
2SLGBTQIA+ community members in and from Wallowa County are eligible to apply for financial assistance through People Like Us’s Community Member Support Program. This funding is very flexible and can be used to support needs such as housing, transportation, cell service, legal fees, medical fees, gender-affirming clothing, and more. Requests are handled confidentially by 1-2 members of the People Like Us Board. Please contact us for more details or if you are interested in being a volunteer ambassador to help spread the word about this program in our community.
Little Queer Library
People Like Us occasionally hosts a pop-up “little free library” of 2SLGBTQIA+ books at events. Attendees can take a book and are invited to leave a book if they can. Please contact us if you would like to donate books or if you are interested in volunteering to expand this program.
Out of the Closet
People Like Us runs a pop-up clothing closet of age- and size-inclusive clothing for queer people in Wallowa County. We are especially in need of plus-sized and masculine clothing. Please contact us if you have clothes you would like to donate, are interested in hosting a pop-up location, or would like to help volunteer with this program.
Community Education
People Like Us is exploring and developing possibilities for educating our community around 2SLGBTQIA+ support, especially through education for helping professionals. If you are interested in helping with these efforts, please reach out.
